THIRD ANNIVERSARY OF SECOND WAR.

The current month marked the third anniversary of the September 1999 Moscow and Volgodonsk “terror bombings” that served to precipitate a second Russian invasion of Chechnya. The September 10 issue of the government newspaper Rossiiskaya Gazeta featured an interview with FSB Lieutenant General Ivan Mironov, who described the progress made by his organization in investigating the bombings. The September 10 issue of the website Grani.ru, coincidentally, carried an interview with Duma deputy Sergei Kovalev, who discussed the work of his independent Public Commission to Investigate the Explosions of the Apartment Houses in Moscow and Volgodonsk.
