The Los Angeles Times (February 26) has reported that the bodies of dozens of Chechens, most of them men, were found on February 24 in a dumping site close to the large Russian military base at Khankala, near the Chechen capital of Djohar (Grozny). The body of a 16-year-old boy whose last name was Musaev was one of the first to be recovered. “Human rights groups speculated [on February 24] that Russian servicemen at the Khankala base used the village as a disposal site for executed prisoners.”
