Militant Leadership Monitor – November 2015 Issue
The November 2015 issue of Militant Leadership Monitor starts off with a brief of Major General Muhammad Khaddour, the Syrian loyalist commander in charge of the Raqqa, Deir al-Zor and al-Hasakah Governorates, where the Islamic State is located. Nicholas Heras follows this up with a brief on Shaykh Khalid Hablos, a militant Salafist Lebanese cleric who was recently arrested. The first profile details the leader of al-Huda, a set of schools for girls in Pakistan that ‘reforms’ them to become mothers of future jihadists-Farhat Hashmi. Sunguta West then delivers a brief sketch of Jamil Mukulu, the now-imprisoned leader of the ADF-NALU in Uganda. A profile of Shaykh Humaydi Daham al-Hadi Jarba, a very important northeastern Syrian tribal leader who fights against the Islamic State, is given by Nicholas Heras. Finally, the issue closes with a look at Abu Issa al-Raqqawi, a different Syrian tribal leader whose group, the Raqqa Revolutionaries Brigade, is only 30 miles from the Islamic State’s capital of Raqqa.
