Complex warfare in Iraq has created a whole new set of challenges for the United States in combating insurgencies. The Iraqi insurgency offers the West many military lessons beyond the current troop surge in Baghdad that is likely to affect the counter-insurgency thinking of U.S. military planners for decades to come.

The Jamestown Foundation is proud to announce a presentation by Dr. Ahmed S. Hashim, Professor at the United States Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. Drawing upon his experience as a veteran student of warfare and recent military service in Iraq, Dr. Hashim will discuss his latest book, Insurgency and Counter-Insurgency in Iraq, and address how the insurgency may affect the evolution of irregular warfare in the 21st century. This discussion is off-the-record and not for attribution. Refreshments will be provided.

As space is limited, reservations are required. Please e-mail your name and affiliation to: rsvp-apr4@jamestown.org.
